Acude al hospital por una tos y salió sin piernas y un brazo

Jayne Carpenter, una ex enfermera de 51 años, perdió sus dos piernas, cuatro dedos de su mano derecha y su brazo izquierdo debido a una sepsis. Su vida cambió en el 2016 cuando desarrolló lo que pensó que era una tos. Al arribar al hospital los doctores pensaron que se trataba de neumonía, pero su condición fue empeorando hasta que cayó en un coma debido al shock séptico que hizo que sus órganos fallaran. Cuando despertó, Carpenter sufrió una amputación cuádruple. Los doctores le advirtieron a su esposo que si no tomaban estas medidas, Carpenter no sobreviviría. La ex enfermera perdió las dos piernas, el brazo izquierdo justo debajo del codo y cuatro dedos de la mano derecha.

Me in The Artificial Limb and Appliance centre in Rookwood hospital. Serious rehabilitation had begun, with the introduction of #prosthetic legs. Remember feeling so excited at the start, Standing up for the 1st time in 4 months was incredible..Having been in a bed/wheelchair for what felt like forever..I felt about 6ft.tall !! Spending my time having twice daily physio kept me sane, and no amount of physio felt like a chore…Id been fit and active all my life, and these things were taken away from me overnight..so nothing could come quick enough. Had a brilliant physiotherapist, with whom I quickly built up a good rapport with!
